2FA or 2 factor authentication is becoming a far more widely used form of information security not only on the Internet, but within corporate networks as the information being transferred or stored becomes more sensitive. There was a time when a simple user name and password were more than enough to keep unauthorized people out, but today the average hacker can break this level of security in seconds, no matter how complex the password may be.
Part of the problem is that very few people are willing to create complex username/password combinations and as such this leaves the protected information wide open to hackers. When you use 2FA you are going to add an additional factor into the mix, in many cases this will some form of token that generates a single use numerical code that has to be entered in order to access the information. This makes it almost impossible for a hacker to access any information or software that is protected in this manner.
