IIS Instructions

PDF [1] All instructions to the DSSA™ in the Microsoft® environment use a Graphical User Interface [GUI]. Dues to the simplistic functions of the DSSA™, once installed and initialized, there are very few commands that can be executed.

As stated, this limited set of commands not only makes the DSSA™ simple to use, it also make the application more secure. The following sub sections provide the instructions for completing the configuration of the DSSA™ and the other features of the GUI.

  • Configure
  • Once installed, the DSSA™ GUI is used to configure the server. This is a one-time-only configuration that is activated using the Tools -> Configure option from the menu. The DSSA™ will run a routine and when completed will display all the SSL Certificates [2] present on the server. The configuration is now complete.

  • View List
  • To view all of the SSLs installed on the server, simply open the DSSA™. Once open, all of the Certificates on the machine are displayed in the familiar IIS Certificate Store format. The GUI will display a list of all the SSLs on the system, regardless of their life cycle status (i.e. currently valid and in date, expired and out of date, revoked, etc).

Important Note: The DSSA™ will only automatically renew SSLs that are valid at the exact time that the DSSA™ is installed and initialized. To enable the DSSA™ to replace an expired SSL with a new SSL, use the ‘Renew’ command prompt (see sub section 5.1.1.5).

  • New
  • To add a new SSL to the server, select File -> New from the GUI Menu and enter the hostname of the SSL that you want to add to the server.

  • Delete
  • To disable the renewal of an existing SSL on the server, select File -> Delete from the GUI Menu and enter the hostname of the SSL that you want to add to the server.

  • Enable
  • To enable the renewal of an existing SSL on the server that was previously disabled or had expired prior to the installation of the DSSA™, select File -> Enable from the GUI Menu and enter the hostname of the SSL that you want to renew immediately.

  • Renew
  • To enable the renewal of an existing SSL on the server immediately (i.e. force the immediate renewal), select File -> Renew from the GUI Menu and enter the hostname of the SSL that you want to renew immediately
