2FA Is the Abbreviation Used for Two Factor Authentication

2FA is one of several different abbreviations for two factor authentication. Two factor authentication is a type of authentication used in different computing environments that require more than just a user name and password. Two factor authentication requires additional security features before a user can gain access and is able to log into a computer (or other type of software application). There are several different types of two factor authentication systems used in different environments, which are available through us, here at Digi-Sign.

2FA Is Broken Down Into Different Types of Items Required for Authentication

The different types of items required for 2FA, or two factor authentication are broken down into three different security levels. The first one is something which you will know, like your user name, password, or PIN number. The second one is something which you must have in your possession, like a USB token key, smart card or hardware security module. The third item is something which is not a physical item, but something you have specific to your own person. This could be your fingerprint when using biometric readers for access or a certificate authority which is specific for your own computer. In order for two factor authentication to work, you must use at least two different items.
